Domed City Biospheres: a Solution to Climate Change?
Self-contained Ecosystems have their own interior weather or climate. These are covered by a glass exterior or dome, built to create an artificial atmosphere in regions like Deserts, other Planets, or the Moon. If created to offset extreme weather in the exterior, the ecosystems are protected. The glass domes can be tinted to deflect extreme temperatures from sunlight, and made with solar-absorption Solar Panels for energy. Entrances to the Biospheres are in covered glass tunnels linking each Domed City.
I first suggested this concept in Chapter 21 of Eye of the Pharaoh ©1990-1995. In that chapter, the Domed Cities were constructed of Diamond Glass, which can deflect Nuclear Weapons. This would be paid for by Infrastructure funding.
With Domed Cities the air is recirculated or fresh with growing vegetation and plants. The outside air or temperature is separate from the contained Ecosystem. With Global Warming (Climate Change) continuing, the World needs protected Ecosystems such as Biospheres in Domed Cities. Rain water can be collected from the Dome along the exterior channels, and created artificially inside the Domed Biosphere. The Biosphere project that already exists has its own Rain Forest.
