A red tide that has stained the water along the East Bay shoreline tea brown appears to be the same type of algae bloom that spread throughout the San Francisco Bay last summer, killing tens of thousands of fish, according to an environmental organization. 

The group San Francisco Baykeeper received a tip on its hotline Thursday of a possible algae bloom and sent out a drone Friday that captured footage of a red tide spreading between Albany and Emeryville, said Senior Scientist Jon Rosenfield.
