A solution to the Housing and Tourism Crisis in Hawaii: Casinos?
While not Hawaiian in nature, Casinos are popular in Native American tribal lands as part of their economy. They pay for their medical, housing, insurance, and basic sustenance. In Hawaii the anti-tourism dependency wants new ideas. Hawaiian Casinos can create local jobs (Restaurants, Casino Waiter/Waitress, Mechanic or Technicians, ATM Teller/Cashier, Security, etc.) and a Casino Tax can help the Economy and pay for the schools (like the Lottery does in CA). Add other buildings like a Native Hawaiian Museum, Gift shops, Casino rewards shop (for Teenagers in an Arcade built for non-adults waiting for their parents at the Casino), bookstores, Wedding Chapel, etc. Most hotels can be converted by opening up the first 2 or 3 levels of the hotel part and putting in Slot Machines and non-smoking Gaming Tables. Slot Machines can have Hawaiian décor and incorporate Native Hawaiian Games. Add Hawaiian Tiki statues, Hawaiian Music and Native Plants inside the Casino for the Aloha sensation. Casinos can be part of existing Hotel resorts or the Billionaires who buy up Hawaiian acreage. Add solar panels and Palm tree shaped wind mills with EV Charging stations. Casinos can also use Maui Trade Dollar type tokens in Slot Machines.
Aloha!
