Kheri-Hebs

What is a Kheri-Heb Priest?

In Ancient Egypt, the Priest who carries the Ritual/Magic Book is the Kheri-Heb Priest, who also reads it during ceremonies.  Mostly this is the High Priest as in Imhotep from The Mummy films, who is the Director of the Funerary Drama (the Ancient Greeks took ideas from Egyptian Temples in making Greek Dramatic Performances).  He was the Chief Official of Magic (2nd to Pharaoh) as known from the Old Kingdom era (or Pyramid Age).  He is often shown carrying a Papyrus scroll in one hand, and wearing a starry or leopard print robe.  Also spelled Kheri-Hebet or Kher-Heb.
