Island Economy - Niihau

An Island Economy that helps the environment and collects resources is Recycling.  With recycling you can clean the beaches on the polluted West Side and provide resources for the community - recycled Paper, Plastics, Metals and Glass, etc.  Then you can go to other islands asking them for recyclables to contribute to the local economy.  You can also sell recyclables to the Mainland (California, USA) for profit.  The Recycling Center should be on Ni'ihau to replace the defunct Ranch that closed in 1999.

Recycled Paper can be made into stock paper, toilet or tissue paper, computer paper, cardboard, packaging, newspapers or magazines, paper cups and stationary, etc.

Recycled Plastics are essential parts in computers and Cell phones.

Recycled Glass makes new eyeglasses, drinking vessels, decorative art, windows, watch cases, etc.

Recycled Metals can make aluminum cans, wheels, mechanical parts, coins, computers, etc.
